A message from Peter Beckenham, Ranger at Trumpington Meadows.
Thanks to the two souls who braved the ‘beast from the east’ and helped build a superb new barn owl box for the site – it looks great. In this inclement weather personal safety comes first so no problem if you wanted to come but couldn’t make it.
With the bird breeding season effectively upon us now (greenfinch and great tit even singing through the snow today!) we have another volunteer session on Wednesday 7th March in order to finish off the second owl box and put up some smaller passerine boxes around the site. There is also some light scrub clearance to continue and litter picking depending on time so the session will probably be a mix of things. In the event of more heavy snow/ice please only come if it’s safe to travel, otherwise we will meet at 10am at the Ranger’s barn as usual. We’ll be finished by 3pm, all tools, safety wear and light refreshments will be provided. If you’re able to send me an email confirming attendance that would be appreciated, if you have any questions just drop me a line.
Following next Wednesday, the next session will be on Wednesday 21st March.
